Mid-term review of country programme for children, women 2006 -10 held

The government of Bangladesh and UNICEF Thursday held the Mid-Term Review of the Country Programme of Cooperation for Bangladeshi Children and Women covering five-year period from 2006 to 2010.
The overall aim of the programme is the progressive realisation of children's rights to survival, education, development, protection and participation. It also contributes to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the country.
The review was chaired by Md. Aminul Islam Bhuiyan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division (ERD) of the Ministry of Finance and included all line ministries involved in the joint cooperation programme.
Frances Turner, UNICEF Deputy Regional Director for South Asia, Renata Dessallien, UN Resident Coordinator and Carel de Rooy, UNICEF Representative in Bangladesh also attended the meeting.
