On contact Rezaul Islam, a vegetable grower of village Ramanagar of Magura town said, "Before Ramadan we sold brinjal at Tk 16 per kg in the wholesale market. We are still selling it at the same rate. But how it is being sold in the retail market at Tk 50 per kg is not understandable to us."
When contacted, Akram Mollah, a vegetable wholesaler of Dhaka Road area in Magura town denied the allegation of making syndicate and said due to heavy rainfall in the district in recent time supply of vegetables has decreased in the local market. Consequently the prices have jumped.
