FE REPORT
A mild cold wave is likely to continue sweeping Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Jashore, Chuadanga, and Kushtia today.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in its 24-hour bulletin said starting from Monday morning, the weather might remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.
Moderate to thick fog might occur at places over the river basins, and light to moderate fog might occur elsewhere over the country during late night to morning, it said.
Night and day temperatures might remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin stated.
The lowest temperature was recorded in Tentulia at 8.4 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Within the span of a day, the overall temperature across the country increased by 1.0 to 2.0 degrees Celsius.
The BMD stated that the minimum temperature had risen by more than 1.0 degrees Celsius on the day.
The temperature in the capital also increased slightly.
On Sunday, the lowest temperature was also recorded in Tetulia at 7.3 degrees Celsius.
For five consecutive days, the country's lowest temperature remained in this region.
At the same time, the number of areas experiencing cold waves decreased to 13 on Monday.
BMD sources said temperatures might drop slightly Tuesday (today), particularly in Chattogram.
Furthermore, the overall temperature of the country may start decreasing again from Thursday.
Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque said, "Overall, the temperature has increased by 1.0 to 2.0 degrees Celsius compared to Sunday. However, that does not mean the cold wave will completely subside.
"On Tuesday (today), the temperature may remain almost the same. But the temperature in the Chattogram division may drop slightly," he added.
Explaining the reason behind the possible temperature drop in Chattogram, he said clouds had gathered in the coastal regions due to a depression formed in the Bay of Bengal.
These clouds from the Barishal and Khulna divisions entered Chattogram via Sandwip. As a result, Chattogram's temperature rose on Sunday night, he said.
Last Wednesday, the lowest temperature of this winter season was recorded in Naogaon's Badalgachhi at 6.7 degrees Celsius.
Last Thursday, a cold wave affected 24 districts, and on Friday, it swept over 20 districts.
Last Saturday, the country's minimum temperature was recorded in Tetulia at 6.8 degrees Celsius.
In the capital, the minimum temperature was recorded at 15 degrees Celsius on Monday.
Meanwhile, the gap between the maximum and minimum temperatures in the capital is widening.
When this gap increases, the overall temperature tends to rise.
