Dense fog disrupts air traffic, ferry services

Mild cold wave is sweeping over two northernmost districts and it may continue, according to the met office forecast for the next 24hours commencing 9am Thursday, report agencies.
"Mild cold wave is sweeping over the districts of Dinajpur and Panchagarh and it may continue", said the forecast.
The country experienced moderate to thick fog, leading to disruptions in air navigation and inland river transport.
Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.
Moderate to thick fog may occur over the country during Thursday midnight to Friday morning and it may continue till noon at places over the country. Air navigation, inland river transport and road communication may disrupt due to thick fog.
Night and day temperature may rise slightly over the country. Due to thick fog, cold day condition may prevail over the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 28.0 degree celsius at Cox's Bazar and minimum temperature was recorded 08.4 degree celsius at Tetulia.
Ridge of sub continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining northwestern part of Bangladesh. Seasonal low lies over South Bay, extending it's trough to North Bay.
Meanwhile, flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) were disrupted for seven and a half hours Thursday due to dense fog.
Thirteen flights that failed to land at Dhaka airport were diverted to Kolkata, Hyderabad, Sylhet, and Chattogram international airports, Executive Director of HSIA, Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam, told UNB.
He said flights could not operate normally from 2 am to 9:40 am today due to fog, adding that flight operations resumed at 9:40 am after visibility improved.
In Manikganj, ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route, which were suspended as dense fog blanketed the river route, resumed Thursday morning after 12 hours.
