FE REPORT | Friday, 24 April 2026
The country, including the capital Dhaka, is experiencing a mild-to-moderate heat wave since April 20, 2026.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees Celsius in the capital on Thursday while it was 40 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, highest this year in the country.
The ongoing heat wave across the country may persist for three more days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The BMD in its regular weather bulletin said on Thursday that the rainfall is expected to increase across the country from April 26, after which the heat wave is likely to ease.
It said temperature is frequently reaching or exceeding between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius.
The high temperatures are expected to continue for next several days, with maximum hovering between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius.
The forecast says that daytime temperatures across the country are likely to remain nearly unchanged for some next some days, while nighttime temperatures may rise slightly.
BMD further said that temperatures may slightly decrease from April 25.
From April 26, rainfall may increase in various parts of the country until the end of the month.
During this period, the heat is expected to reduce significantly.
According to the forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in the northeastern regions after April 27, which may further reduce temperatures across the country.
