Mild tremor jolts India's Assam

A light earthquake has struck India's Assam, 30km from Bangladesh's Kurigram border. The 4.6- magnitude earthquake struck around 7:15am on Saturday morning, said Kolkata-based daily Anandabazar. Five seconds of vibrations were felt at Assam, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Kuchbihar. There have been no reported casualties. The US earthquake monitoring organisation USGS said the mild tremor struck at a depth of 10km and had its centre at Assam's Gauripur, is 30km from the Kurigram border and 77km from the district town. — bdnews24.com
