NATORE Aug 6: Milk prices soared in Natore due to short supply in the local markets, causing sufferings to the people. Locals said, one kg of milk was being sold at Tk 30 in the district town some months ago. But now its price ranges from Tk 40 to Tk 42. Milkmen, however, attributed the high price to fodder crisis. The low-income people are the worst sufferers, as they depend on cow milk to feed their babies. Fazila Begum, a resident of Natore district town, said she used to buy a kg of milk everyday. But she has cut it by half because of the high milk price. Sweetshop owners have also raised prices of their products, as their production cost has gone up. Dulal Paul, owner of Nimtala Mistanna Bhander, said prices of sweets have been raised as the total expenditure went up.
