Milon's mother appeals for effective democracy

Mother of Shaheed Dr Shams-ul-Alam Khan Milon, a martyr of the 1990 democracy struggle, has said the supreme sacrifice of her beloved son would be meaningful if an effective democratic society is established in the country.
"Milon's immortal soul will get relief if the nation gets economic emancipation, peace and democracy," Selina Akter said after placing wreath at Milon's grave on the premises of the Dhaka Medical College Saturday, reports BSS.
The family members, including Milon's brother Shah Alam Khan and sister Meherun Nahar, were present on the occasion of his 20th martyrdom anniversary.
Selina Akhter said the opposition should join parliament for the sake of democracy. She also urged the government to take initiative for bringing back the opposition to parliament.
Regarding hartal, Selina Akhter said it is a democratic rights of a political party. But it must be in the interest of the people, she added.
