Mini shuffle in administration

The government has made a mini shuffle in the upper-echelon of bureaucracy, with three secretaries being transferred and deputy commissioners (DC) withdrawn from five districts, and six districts getting new DCs. The Public Administration Ministry notified this through separate gazettes issued on Sunday afternoon. Public Administration Training Centre’s (BPATC) rector Khandaker M Iftekhar Haider has been made secretary of the Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry while this ministry’s former secretary Dr Khandaker Shawkat Hossain made Director General (DG) of National Academy for Planning and Development (NAPD). The former DG of NAPD AKM Abdul Awal Majumdar has been made BPATC rector. Besides, six other government officials have been transferred to six districts as DCs. They are: Former Rangamati DC M Mostafa Kamal has been transferred to Khulna as DC, Economic Relations Division’s (ERD) deputy secretary Md Shamsul Arefin to Rangamati as DC, deputy secretary of Religious Affairs Ministry Jahangir Alam to Bagerhat as DC, Md Mijanul Haq Chowdhury, personal secretary to the state minister for finance, will replace KN Tariqul Islam as Bandarban DC while Islam has been transferred to the Relief and Disaster Management Ministry. Former DC of Khulna Anis Mahmood has been moved to the Economic Relations Division (ERD), Khagrachhari DC Md Masud Karim transferred to the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. He will be replaced by Dhaka’s Diara Settlement Officer Muhammad Wahiduzzaman. Former DC of Bagerhat Md Shukur Ali sent to the Ministry of Environment and Forest. Joypurat DC Mohammad Yasin sent to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, with health ministry’s Deputy Secretary Md Abdul Rahim taking his place. Besides, the Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Bijon Lal Deb has been transferred to Bangladesh Mission in New York as the 1st secretary.
