CHITTAGONG, May 20: CNG auto-rickshaw drivers have demanded minimum fare to be fixed at Tk 35 instead of Tk 25 recently announced by the government. The drivers formed a human chain and organised a brief rally in front of the Chittagong Press Club today. Over one hundred drivers attended the programmes under the banner of Chittagong city auto-rickshaw drivers' association. They said that the government has fixed Tk 25 for the first two kilometres and Tk 7.50 for the next kilometre. "Our demand is Tk 30 for the first two kilometres and Tk 10 for the next kilometre. But the minimum fare for a trip should be Tk 35," said acting president of the association Abdul Malek. General secretary Harunor Rashid also addressed the rally.
