Minister asks CAAB to begin Dhaka airport expansion work

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Shahjahan Kamal has directed the officials of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) to start the work of the Third Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport and second phase of Cox's Bazar International Airport soon.
He also asked the concerned officials to quickly complete other pending projects of the CAAB, reports BSS.
"Nine months is not a short span of time to bring dynamism in a ministry as we had been able to achieve our independence in a nine-month war," he said while speaking at an exchange of views meeting with the high officials of CAAB at its headquarters in the capital on Tuesday.
Shahjahan Kamal said the aviation sector of Bangladesh is becoming more and more important with the advancement of the country's economy.
"Without an efficient aviation sector, we won't be able to attract more foreign investment here as well as to ensure export-import activities," he added.
He also directed the officials to increase customer care of the air travelers through further improving the airport ground handling system.
Presided over by CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan, the meeting was also addressed by Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary S M Gholam Farooque.
Later, the minister visited different important establishment of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
