Minister for building a more prosperous state after 'fascism'

Road Transport, Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam on Wednesday said following the fall of what he described as ‘fascism’ and the establishment of a people's government, the country's next priority is to build a more prosperous state, report UNB.
"The people's elected government is working towards that goal under the leadership of Tarique Rahman," he said while addressing a discussion titled "Shashwata July", organised by the Dhaka College unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Bir Muktijoddha Shaheed ANM Nazir Uddin Khan Khurram Auditorium in the capital.
The minister said the country had entered a new phase following the fall of "fascism", adding that the people's government was committed to fulfilling the nation's aspirations for prosperity.
Rabiul said the July movement had inspired the nation to renew and reform itself while paving the way for a more prosperous future."
It also taught us how to bring about the fall of a fascist government," he said.
He said the movement had brought about a qualitative transformation in student politics, describing the change as both significant and inevitable.
The minister also stressed the need to improve the quality of educational institutions and develop them into centres for nurturing the country's future leadership.
Highlighting the legacy of Dhaka College, he said many of its alumni now serve in the civil administration, police, government ministries and departments, as well as the armed forces.He recalled that gaining admission to Dhaka College had once been a cherished aspiration for students across the country.
The programme was attended by the convener of the Dhaka College unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, former teachers of the college and former student leaders.
