Minister lauds CAs' role in today's business world

The role of chartered accountants is very important in the very complex world of economics as business today cannot operate without maintaining proper accounting books, Commerce Minister Faruk Khan said Tuesday.
"The country is resilient to global recession and part of the credit goes to the CAs as they maintain accounting books and play an important role in policy making of the business entities," he said at the 75th founding anniversary of Basu Banerjee Nath & Co, the first CA firm in the country, at the city's BIAM auditorium.
Blaming accountants in the western world, he urged the local CAs to learn from their mistakes.
Partner of the CA firm Anil Chandra Nath said the mission of the firm was to develop skilled accounting human resource to serve the country.
The Financial Express Editor Moazzem Hossain said the firm had been serving for long 75 years because of its quality services to the clients. CAs' role 'helps ensure transparency and accountability of a firm,' he said.
ICAB President Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Sector Commander CR Dutta, partner of the firm Gobinda Chandra Paul, Mohammad Jainul Abedin FCA, ABM Azizuddin FCA, Mosharraf Hossain FCA, Mohammad Aftab Uddin Khan FCA, Rajesh Kumar Yadab ACA, article students Basudeb Pal and Feroza Jesmin also spoke on the occasion.
The firm presented crests to 25 CAs, who passed from the firm.
