Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali has kept his word to rebuild a portion of Moulvibazar Stadium’s boundary wall that was demolished for wedding ceremony of his daughter. The wedding ceremony of Syeda Sanjida Sharmin, the minister’s 2nd daughter, was held at Moulvibazar district stadium in Raghunathpur on Thursday. Over 20,000 guests attended the ceremony. More than 20 feet of the north wall between the stadium and Water Development Board office was razed to ensure cars of the guests have easy access to the ceremony venue. Five canopies were erected on the ground. One was for the groom’s relatives and guests, one for the bride and women, another for guests coming in from seven Upazilas, one more for the members of minority communities and another for ‘miscellaneous guests.’ Sand was poured onto the muddy north part of the field. The minister’s act drew flack after the media reported about the demolition of the wall. Ali had pledged to repair the razed wall. The local journalists on Friday evening found that the broken part of the wall was already fixed, according to bdnews24.com.
