Minister mugged of his mobile phone in city

A mugger has robbed Planning Minister MA Mannan of his mobile phone, report agencies.
Mannan was browsing something on his mobile phone while sitting in his car with one of its windows rolled down at Bijoy Sharani on Sunday evening.
"Suddenly, before I even knew what was happening, the mugger snatched it from me and ran," Mannan told the press about the incident following an ECNEC meeting at the Planning Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday.
"It took me a couple of seconds to realise what was happening because I was absorbed in my browsing. When I recovered, I told the policeman in the car that my phone was stolen."
The mugging happened at around 7 pm Sunday when his SUV was stuck up in traffic at Dhaka's Bijoy Sarani while returning from office.
Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kafrul Police Station, confirmed the incident Tuesday.
The mugger snatched the minister's phone through a lowered window of the SUV and ran away, the OC said.
Personal secretary of the minister filed a case with Kafrul police station over the incident," he added.
Police found neither the snatcher nor the phone until Tuesday afternoon.
"We are trying to capture the snatcher and recover the phone as soon as possible."Selimuzzaman said adding "an investigation is under way."
