Minister seeks Thai support in medicare

Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday sought Thailand's support for the improvement of the healthcare sector in Bangladesh.
In a meeting with his Thai counterpart, he also drew Thailand's attention to bilateral cooperation in the sector, including joint investment and developing institutional healthcare strategies.
Mr Maleque made the call at a meeting with Thai health minister and deputy premier Anutin Charnvirakul in Bangkok, reads a health ministry statement.
The Bangladesh minister led a delegation, including the Bangladesh envoy in Bangkok and other top officials.
He apprised the Thai minister of various initiatives taken by Bangladesh to provide a huge population with healthcare services.
Mr Maleque also highlighted Bangladesh's economic progress amid the pandemic and its success in tackling the virus outbreak.
In response, Mr Charnvirakul lauded Bangladesh's role in coping with the pandemic situation and showed interest to learn more about it. Mr Maleque then told him about the strict maintenance of the WHO guideline, creating own health protocol, implementation of the vaccination programme, use of telemedicine service and other timely measures.
