Minister withdraws defamation case against journos

Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Latif Siddique on Wednesday withdrew a defamation case filed against the then editor, publisher and a reporter of the daily Manobkantha and the editor of Dhaka Times last year. Latif Siddique, the then Jute and Textiles Minister, filed the case against the then Manobkantha editor Shajahan Sarder, publisher Zakaria Chowdhury and Dhaka Times editor Arifur Rahman on May 22, 2013. He, however, offered compromise during the charge-framing hearing at the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Moynul Islam Bhuiyan on Wednesday in the presence of Shajahan Sarder, Zakaria Chowdhury and Arifur Rahman, according to a news agency.
