Ministerial body approves revised BCCSAP

The ministerial committee Wednesday recommended the final revised draft of the Bangladesh Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan (BCCSAP)-2009 incorporating the vision strategy of the present government to build a poverty-free country by 2021.
The recommendation was given at the ministerial committee meeting in the conference room of the Ministry of Environment and Forest with Planning Minister AK Khandakar in the chair, reports BSS.
Members of the committee Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Food Minister Dr Abdur Razzak, Civil Aviation Minister GM Quader, State Minister for Environment and Forests Dr Hasan Mahmud, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Advocate Abdul Mannan and Prime Minister's Adviser on Economic Affairs Dr Moshiur Rahman were present in the meeting.
Members of the expert team constituted by the ministerial committee to revise the BCCSAP-2008, prepared originally by the caretaker government, were also present.
At a press briefing after the meeting, the planning minister said the BCCSAP-2009 followed and incorporated the views and thoughts of the various ministries in light of the vision of the present government for future economic, social and human resources development chasing the climate-induced challenges.
However, he said it would be a living document and would be changed depending upon new scientific findings, development priorities and nature of international negotiations on climate change.
