Ministry of Commerce signs deal with UK-based CIMA to strengthen ICMAB

Ministry of Commerce has signed an agreement with the UK-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the city recently for strengthening the capacity of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) under a World Bank-financed project titled 'strengthening accounting and auditing standards and practices in the corporate sector'.
Ministry of Commerce Joint Secretary and Project Director Shawkat Ali Waresi and CIMA Strategy Work Stream Leader Kathy Grimshew signed the agreement under the chairmanship of ICMAB President Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed.
Strengthening accounting and auditing standards and practices in the corporate sector is one of the six components of the Economic Management Technical Assistant Programme (EMTAP), based on the World Bank's Report on the Observance of Standards and Codes (ROSC) for implementation of IAS/IFRS and ISA in Bangladesh.
