Minor boy, college student drown

A five-year-old boy and a college student drowned in separate incidents in Adamdighi and Sonatala Upazilas in Bogra district on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Mashrafee, 5, son of Mamun Hossain of Palanpara village in Alamdighi Upazila, and Shirazul, 20, son of Bulu Mandal of Huakua village of Sonatala Upazila. Mashrafee drowned in a pond adjacent to his house while playing by the bank of the water body while Sirazul, a Class XI student of a local college, slipped into Jamuna River while catching fish sitting on its bank. People of passing boats rescued Sirajul from the mighty Jamuna River and whisked him to a local hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead, according to a news agency.
