Minor Boy killed in Bandarban landslide

A minor boy was killed and another injured in a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall for the last three days at New Gulshan in Bandarban municipality area on Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Sajjad Hossain, 02, son of M Dilu, a resident of New Gulshan. Sources at the fire service confirmed this. On the other hand, Army Para, Bus Station, Hafezgona and Islampur of the municipality went under 10-12 feet water due to the torrential downpour. Residents of these areas were shifted to safe shelter centers. Some 15,000 people of the town have been marooned by three days’ rain-triggered flood. Road communications of Bandarban with Chittagong and Rangamati remain snapped as Rangamati-Bandarban and Chittagong-Bandarban highways went under water, causing immense sufferings to the commuters. The water of Sangu River has been flowing above the danger mark due to the continuous rain, according to a news agency.
