Minor drowns in rainwater-filled pit in Dhaka

A minor girl drowned in a pit filled with rainwater near her house on the Kathalbagan-Kalabagan Road in Kathalbagan area of Dhaka city on Friday. The deceased was identified as Meem Akter, 7, daughter of Ismail Hossain, a tea seller and a resident of the area. Quoting Mizanur Rahman, paternal uncle of the deceased, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) sources said Meem went out of her house around 7:45 am and fell into a pit adjacent to her house, where rainwater gathered, and drowned. Later she was rushed to DMCH where doctors declared her dead, according to a news agency.
