Mir Telecom keen to build infrastructure of 2 Hi-Tech parks

Local company, Mir Telecom, has shown interest to build infrastructure of two Hi-Tech parks. The company has already responded to the Request for Proposals (RFPs) invited by the Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA).
Mir Telecom is interested to build the Hi-Tech parks at Mohakhali and Sylhet with the assistance of foreign firms, sources said.
A total of three companies have placed their proposals for the Mohakhali Park while only one company, Mir Telecom, submitted its proposal for the Sylhet Park.
Mir Telecom is the first International Gateway (IGW) operator of Bangladesh which is popular for VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) call termination.
As part of the government initiative of making IT villages in different corners of the country to promote the information communication technology sector, ICT Division under the telecom ministry is accelerating infrastructure development work of the Hi-Tech parks.
Managing Director of Mir Telecom Mir Nasir Hossain told the media about his interest for infrastructure development of the Hi-Tech parks. The company wants to take charge of the two parks in Mohakhali and Sylhet areas under Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
Besides the two areas, Hi-Tech parks will also be set up in Gazipur, Rajshahi and Jessore. The authority concerned invited separate RFPs for the development of the respective projects. Of them, BHTPA has extended the period of RFP for the project of Kaliakoir, Gazipur to April 3, 2014.
