Mir Telecom launches service tomorrow

Mir Telecom is launching international telephone call termination operation tomorrow (Thursday).

This is one of new licence holders of International Gate Way (IGW).

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Tuesday said the private companies that are required to begin operation within six months of getting licences.

Private operators are entering into the billion dollar market ending a long monopoly of the government-owned Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL), formerly BTTB.

Two other companies that will handle international incoming and outgoing calls as IGW licensees are Bangla Trac Communications and Novotel.

M&H Telecom and Getco Telecommunications Ltd will operate as Interconnection Exchange (ICX). The new operators along with BTCL will terminate international calls through submarine cable.
