Mirsarai BNP calls 12-hr hartal Sunday

CHITTAGONG, Oct 10: Mirsarai upazila BNP has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal Sunday in protest against the murder of a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader.
Convener of JCD Mirsarai unit Adil Mahmud (28) was chopped to death by unidentified assailants at around 8.00 pm Thursday at Bhorer Bazar area of Shaher Khali union of the upazila.
Miscreants chopped him severely and left the place quickly. Local people sent him to Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex and soon he was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where attending physicians declared him dead.
Mirsarai Upazila BNP called a protest rally at around 12:00 noon Friday. Convener of BNP Mirsarai upazila unit Nurul Amin announced the programme during the protest rally in front of the local BNP office, party workers said.
Amin has also announced ward-based protest rallies in the upazila Saturday (tomorrow). Sources concerned said Adil was murdered in connection with ownership of a waqf estate with the neighbours.
Mirsarai OC Imtiaz Bhuiyan said a case has been filed in connection with the murder. No one was arrested immediately.
