Sunday, 10 August 2014

BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has been acquitted in a case of violence.
Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court  Sunday indicted 19 other accused in the case filed with Motijheel police for obstructing police duty, sabotage and exploding crude bombs.
Abbas, convenor of BNP's Dhaka metropolitan committee, had sought acquittal in the case before, according to a news agency.
The court granted his plea as there was no specific allegation against him, said defence counsel Mohsin Mia. The case said the BNP leader was financier of the acts of sabotage.
According to case details, activists from a march of the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami attacked police personnel at Motijheel on June 27, 2010 with "intentions to kill them".
