Sunday, 23 March 2014
A Dhaka court on Sunday scrapped bail for three top BNP leaders, including Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in three murder cases filed with Ramna Police Station last year. Ruhul Amin, the Judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions judge’s court, passed the order after hearing in the morning. Two other BNP leaders denied bail by the court today are standing committee member Mirza Abbas and Abdus Salam. Police filed the three murder cases accusing the top three leaders of killing a policeman and three others during pre-poll violence in 2013. On March 9 this year, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court scrapped a High Court bail for five top BNP leaders including the trio. Mirza Alamgir, Mirza Abbas and Abdus Salam were sent to jail on March 16 after they surrendered before the court, according to a news agency.
