A Dhaka court on Wednesday put back to January 14 next year the charge framing hearing against BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 40 other party leaders and workers in a vandalism case. Judge Md Ruhul Amin of Senior Special Judge’s Court, Dhaka, passed the deferment order following a hearing over a petition filed by the defence. The defence lawyers submitted the time petitions in the morning. Among the 41 accused, Mirza Abbas, Moudud Ahmed, Barkatullah Bulu and Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, were present in the court today. However, three top leaders – Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Amanullah Aman and Abdullah Al Noman did not appear before the court today. Police filed a case against the 41 leaders and activists for vandalism and arson in front of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in Bailey Road in the city on March 2, 2013, during a BNP-led agitation programme, according to a news agency.
