Mirza Alamgir appeals for bail

BNP's Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday appealed for bail in three violence cases filed against him with Paltan Police Station in city. The appeal was placed to the High Court bench of Justice Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Khasruzzaman. Lawyers Joynul Abedin and Sagar Hossain will move for the plea. Sagar Hossain said the BNP leader was not shown arrested in the three cases. Later, police had shown him arrested in the three cases and submitted a remand petition. He further said following the appeal, the court allowed police to question Mirza Alamgir at the jail gate. Later, the judicial court denied bail for the BNP leader in the three cases. Paltan police filed the three cases against him for creating violence during BNP-led 20-party alliance’s nationwide indefinite transport blockade and hartals (shutdown), according to a news agency.
