Mirza Alamgir defends Khaleda demand to disband Rab

Monday, 12 May 2014

BNP acting Secretary General Mira Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has defended his party chairperson’s demand for disbanding Rapid Action Battalion (Rab). He claimed that Rab is not giving security (to people) and there is no need for keeping this force. “So our Chairperson’s demand for disbanding Rab is justified and timely one.” Mirza Alamgir said while addressing a programme at National Press Club arranged by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) protesting the relocation of trial of Khaleda Zia’s graft cases to a makeshift court at Dhaka Alia Madrasah ground. Referring to the Narayanganj seven murders, Mirza Alamgir said it is not only Rab responsible for the incident, but the government and the Prime Minister will also have to shoulder the responsibility for the murders as they failed to control Rab, according to UNB.
