Mirza Alamgir denied bail in 2 cases

BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been denied bail in two cases filed with the Ramna and Shahbagh police. Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim, however, on Thursday granted him bail in another case filed with the Ramna police. A hearing was held on all the three cases. The acting BNP secretary general got bail in the case filed over the death of a traffic constable. In these cases, Mirza Alamgir has been accused of murder and sabotage during the BNP’s blockades and shutdowns last year. On January 20, Mirza Alamgir had secured bail from the High Court for eight weeks in the three cases. The cases were filed with Shahbagh and Ramna police stations on November 28 and 30 and December 24. Masud Ahmed Takukder and Sanaullah Miah stood for the BNP leader, while Additional Public Prosecutor Shah Alam Talukder represented the state during the bail hearing, accrding to a news agency.
