Mirza Alamgir leading BNP\\\'s Teesta long march

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) began its long march towards Teesta Barrage to highlight the scarcity of water. Led by BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the party kicked off its two-day long march towards the Teesta Barrage in Nilphamari district from the Airport Intersection in Dhaka’s Uttara following a short address by Mirza Alamgir. Mirza Alamgir in his brief address in front of Azampur’s Amin Complex, demanded due share of the water of Teesta River which flows into Bangladesh from India. After the brief rally, BNP leaders and activists, led by Mirza Alamgir started the long march.. At least 50 different types of vehicles left Uttara’s Azampur for Rangpur district around 9:05am. BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and party vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman among others are accompanying the long march. The long march is likely to reach Rangpur in the afternoon. The marchers will stay overnight in Rangpur and hold a rally in the northern-most divisional city later on Tuesday. The next day (Wednesday), the long march will head towards Dalia point in Nilphamari where Teesta Barrage is situated, according to a news agency.
