BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was released from jail on bail Tuesday.
The BNP leader walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail part-2 around 7:15pm after his release order reached the prison.
A good number of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies received Fakhrul at the jail gate with bouquets, according to a news agency.
The High Court Monday granted bail for six months to the BNP acting secretary general in a murder case filed with Ramna police station. With the case, he had secured bail in all the cases filed against him.
On March 16, a Dhaka court sent Fakhrul and two other BNP leaders to jail rejecting their bail petitions in three cases.
The two other BNP leaders are Mirza Abbas, a standing committee member, and Abdus Salam, the party’s Dhaka city member secretary.
