Miscreants kill Bagerhat AL leader

A local Awami League (AL) leader was chopped to death by miscreants at Jiudhara village in Morelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday night. The dead is Mozammel Shikdar, 60, AL general secretary of Ward No 9 of Nishanbaria union of the upazila and son of late Hashem Shikdar of the village. Police said some miscreants attacked Mozammel with sharp weapons and chopped him indiscriminately when he was returning home from mosque after Esha prayers around 9:30pm, leaving him severely injured. Locals rescued and rushed him to the Upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead, according to UNB.
