Miscreants loot Tk 0.8m from 5 brokerage houses

Miscreants took away around Tk 0.8 million from five brokerage houses in the capital's Motijheel area in the early hours of Wednesday, police and officials said.
The brokerage firms -- Khurshid Securities, Al-Muntaha Trading Company, Quayum Securities, Total Communication Securities and Oshadhi Securities Limited - are located on the 6th and 7th floors of Madhumita Building in the city's commercial hub.
Police, however, inspected the firms and detained four security men, who were on duty at night, for interrogation.
When contacted, a sub-inspector of Motijheel Police Station said the incident could happen anytime before dawn as operators of the firms shut those on Tuesday late evening after finishing the day's work.
"We're investigating the matter taking all aspects into our consideration," he added.
Chairs, tables and other furniture were also found in a scattered position while doors of almirah of few firms were also found broken.
