Miscreants severe AL leader\\\'s head from body

Some miscreants sever the head of a local leader of Awami League (AL) from his body at Balaishpur village in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Mafiz Ullah, organising secretary of the Bashikpur union unit of AL and son of late Abdul Aziz of the village. Quoting family members, police said miscreants, equipped with sharp weapons, attacked Mafiz while he was returning home from a local market around 10:30pm. They slit Mafiz’s throat and later severed his head from body to ensure his death. Local people spotted the body at night and informed police. Police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Assistant superintendent of police Nasim Miah confirmed the murder. A case was filed, according to a news agency.
