BRAHMANBARIA, Oct 29: Operation of Ashuganj Zia Fertiliser Factory (AZFF) is being seriously affected due mainly to mismanagement, sources said.
The government established the fertiliser company in the eighties and appointed a managing director, general managers and other officials for its better management.
But no visible effects of such actions have so far been observed and presently, production at AZFF has gone below the expected level.
The production capacity of the company is 1400 tonnes of urea a day. Suspension of urea production will cause it to incur a loss of Tk 6.8 million each day.
Sources said AZFF's current performance is very poor because of its poor administration.
The employees here hardly maintain the working schedule and most of them spend their working hours doing nothing.
In the circumstances, BCIC should evaluate the reports of AZFF's monetary expenditure, including the details of its overhauling and maintenance work.
Local conscious people have sought immediate action in this connection in the interest of the country.
