Wednesday, 7 May 2014

Police have detained a businessman, who reportedly had been missing since Monday morning, for staging his ‘abduction’. Businessman Md Amanullah was found and nabbed on Tuesday night in Langolbandh area in Narayanganj district, police said. He was taken to the office of the district’s Superintendent of Police (SP) around 10:15pm. Bandar Police Station OC Aktar Morshed told reporters that Amanullah was hiding in Magura district. Police were watching his movement after tracing him there. The trader’s family on Monday night filed a general diary (GD) claiming that he had gone missing with Tk 400,000. One of his brothers had received an anonymous phone call on Monday afternoon, and the caller advised him to look for Amanullah in Tongi. Police started investigating the incident after the GD was filed, said SP Khandker Mohid Uddin. After Amanullah was brought to his office, the SP said at a press briefing, “We tracked him first in Magura. He was returning by an Eagle Paribahan bus.” He was not abducted, rather Amanullah went to Magura by himself, said Mohid Uddin, according to bdnews24.com.
