The body of a housewife was recovered from a septic tank at Jorgachha village in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district on Wednesday night, three days after she had reportedly gone missing. The deceased was identified as Mariam Akhter, wife of Amirul Islam of the village. Police said Amirul and his wife Mariam reportedly went missing on Monday and Mariam's brother Nasir Uddin filed a general diary (GD) with Alamdanga Police Station in this connection. Three days after the couple went missing, a bad odour spread from the septic tank at Amirul'sthe house. Local people informed police about the matter on Wednesday night and police recovered the decomposed body of Mariam, packed in a sack, from the septic tank. Nasir Uddin alleged that Amirul killed his sister, dumped her body into the tank and went into hiding. Quoting locals, police said Amirul might have strangled Mariam to death following a family feud over repaying loan taken from NGO. A case was filed, according to UNB.
