Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty looks all set to become a member of the Rajya Sabha. The Trinamool Congress has said it will nominate Chakraborty for one of the five seats in the upcoming polls. Given Trinamool's numbers in the Bengal assembly, his win is considered just a formality. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the actor's nomination on social-networking site Facebook. β€œIn our State five Rajya Sabha members will be elected this time. One of these seats will be given to Mithun Chakraborty from the All India Trinamool Congress,” she wrote on Facebook, reports the Hindu. Chakraborty is a national award-winning actor. He was awarded Banga Bibhusan in 2013 β€” the highest civilian award instituted by the Banerjee government, according to a news agency.
