MK Anwar, Mintoo, Aman surrender before court

Sunday, 2 August 2015

Three senior BNP leaders on Sunday turned themselves over in court after their anticipatory bail was scrapped by the Supreme Court (SC) last week. BNP Standing Committee member MK Anwar, Adviser to the party chairperson Abdul Awal Mintoo and Joint Secretary General Aman Ullah Aman submitted bail petitions after surrendering to court on cases of violence in the morning. “The petitions have been submitted to the courts of chief metropolitan magistrate, chief judicial magistrate and the metropolitan sessions judge,” said the BNP leaders’ lawyer Sana Ullah Miah. Aman filed bail for 70 cases, Anwar for 10 and Mintoo for nine. The BNP leaders had secured anticipatory bail from the High Court in 52 cases, but the Supreme Court scrapped those on July 27 upon a petition by the state. The apex court had then ordered the BNP leaders to surrender in trial court within a week, according to bdnews24.com.
