Mobarak trial verdict today

Keeping its order pending for 75 weeks, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Sunday set today (Monday) for pronouncing the judgment on war crimes accused Razakar commander Mobarak Hossain, a post-independence union-level Awami League leader in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, reports UNB.
Passing the order, the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, asked the jail authorities to produce the accused before it by 10 am unfailingly Monday.
Closing the hearings from both sides, the tribunal on June 2 set to deliver its verdict any day in the war crimes trial against detained Mobarak Hossain, also a pre-independence Rokan (qualified member) of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Before fixing the date for the judgment, the tribunal made oblique remarks on the media as to how television channels aired beforehand the scrolls as breaking news saying 'judgment on Mobarak tomorrow'.
The matter has been on the cause list for order only, the tribunal said, adding it does not mean the judgment will be pronounced the following day.
Such unwarranted media activism is embarrassing for the tribunal and it amounts to interference with the justice delivery system as well, the tribunal observed.
The tribunal, however, asked all concerned to refrain from making breaking news over the tribunal in the future out of over-enthusiasm.
