Mobile helpline service for Eve teasing victims

The Hunger Project, a non-government organisation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a leading contact centre company Windmill Infotech Ltd to provide mobile helpline service for Eve teasing victims to lodge complaints about incidences from next month.
When implemented the victims will be able lodge complaint and get advice from the authority concerned directly over phone, said Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, vice president of Hunger project Wednesday at a press conference in the city.
He said it would be the first service of its kind in the country for social issue while Windmill Infotech will receive and compile the calls from the victims, Hunger Project will monitor and supervise the post-call developments.
A single number will be promoted through media for all concerned to communicate for complaining to the authority directly. Once such complaint is recorded through voice recorder, based on victim's consent, it will be passed on to law enforcing agency for action, said Reazuddin Mosharaf, managing director of Windmill group.
A S M Shahjahan, ex Inspector General of police (IGP) and former adviser to caretaker government, among others, was present at the conference.
