Mobile team finds incidents of water pilferage under Ctg WASA

CHITTAGONG, July 28: Three separate incidents of pilferage of huge quantity of water of Chittagong WASA have been unearthed at Nasirabad and Bayazid Bostami areas in the port city.
Chittagong Port Magistrate Md Munir Chowdhury, also assigned with the additional charge of Chittagong WASA, conducted the drives Saturday.
Acting on secret information, a mobile team led by Chittagong Port Magistrate rushed to Nasirabad Polytechnic area.
The team has found a number of hotels and restaurants there involved in pilfering water on a large scale through illegally installing pipeline from genuine MS special line of Chittagong WASA.
Although none could be identified, necessary steps have been undertaken to bring the concerned officials and employees of WASA to book.
On the other hand, through launching drive at Yakub Oil Refinery in the Bayzid Bostami area, the team unearthed another two incident of revenue evasion.
