FE Report
The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) will request the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) for utilising diplomatic connections to facilitate the passage of the bill 'New Partnership for Development Act (NPDA) 2007' in the US Congress and the Senate, sources said.
A US congressman placed the bill before the House on October 18 that aims to reduce poverty in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) through trade facilitation.
"A letter from MoC adviser Mirza AB Md Azizul Islam will be sent to Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury within the next few days," Feroz Ahmed, secretary of the MoC, told FE Tuesday.
Beneficiary LDCs with the exception of Myanmar and Sudan will be able to export their products to the US market without being subject to tariff and limitations if the bill is passed in the Congress and the Senate.
