Friday, 25 April 2014

The temperature dropped in capital Dhaka Friday after soaring to a five-decade high.
Sporadic rain was reported from some districts Friday afternoon bringing relief from the scorching heat sweeping the country for over a week.
The Met Department said the drop in temperature had been caused by rising humidity. It also said there were chances of rain in some parts of the country, according to a news agency.
Department's Forecast Officer Abul Kalam Mallik said there were light showers in Comilla, Mymensingh and Sylhet in the afternoon.
"Today, there has been rain in one or two places. The temperature will fall further," he said.
The department predicted moderate showers accompanied by gusty winds in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet.
The highest temperature recorded on Friday was 41.9 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga. Dhaka recorded a high of 39 degrees.
On Thursday, the temperature in Dhaka had touched 40.2 degrees, a five-decade high.
