Modhumoti Bank inks deal on green banking with BB

Modhumoti Bank Limited signed Participation Agreement with Bangladesh Bank for "Financing Brick Kiln Efficiency Improvement Project" Wednesday at Conference Room of Green Banking and CSR Department (GBCSRD) of Bangladesh Bank.
 Mr. Abul Mansur Ahmed, General Manager and Project Director, Green Banking and CSR Department of Bangladesh Bank and Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Modhumoti Bank Limited signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations,according to a statement issued by Modhumoti Bank Limited.
A  refinance  scheme  namely  "Financing  Brick  Kiln  Efficiency  Improvement  Project",  has  been  established  in Bangladesh  Bank  under  financing  of  Asian  Development  Bank  (ADB)  for  reducing  greenhouse  gas  emissions  and  fine particulate  pollution  from  brick  fields  of  the  country  and  building  environment-friendly  brick  field  through  efficiency  development of brick kiln with appropriate use of energy and technology. In the scheme, total amount of loan from ADB is about BDT equivalent of USD 50.00 million.
 It  has  two  parts:  Part-A:  about   BDT equivalent of USD 30.00 million  will  be  provided  for conversion of Fixed Chimney Kiln (FCK) to improved Zigzag Kiln and Part-B" about BDT equivalent of USD 20.00 million for establishment of new Vertical Shaft Brick Kiln (VSBK), Hybrid Hoffman Kiln (HHK) and Tunnel Kiln.
Modhumoti Bank Limited is committed to finance projects which are economically as well as socially viable. Modhumoti Bank has identified some environment friendly auto brick project and they will raise fund as Lead Arranger for these projects through syndication with the refinance from Bangladesh Bank under "Financing Brick Kiln Efficiency Improvement Project".
Mr. khandker Morshed Millat, Deputy General Manager and Deputy Project Director, Mr. Arief Hossain Khan, Deputy General Manager and Mr. Md. Tariqul Islam, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Bank and Mr. Md. Touhidul Alam Khan, Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Khondaker Rahimuzzaman, Senior Executive Vice President, Mr. Md. Shaheen Howlader, Executive Vice President and Mr. Arif Hasan Khan, Vice President of Modhumoti Bank Limited were also present on the occasion.
