Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for greater cooperation between Bangladesh and India in the areas of energy, power, infrastructure development and tourism. Reiterating India’s resolve to continue the full support to Bangladesh efforts for its socio-economic development, Modi also underscored the need for taking ‘concrete steps’ to promote bilateral trade and investment. He made the remark when Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, now in New Delhi, met him at his office ahead of the third meeting of the India Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC), said an official. The Indian Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s personal interest and commitment to the relationship. “Bangabandhu founded Bangladesh and his daughter, Sheikh Hasina, saved Bangladesh,” a Foreign Ministry media release quoted Modi as saying, according to a news agency.
