Modi meets President

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped on Sunday that all pending issues between Bangladesh and India would be settled, reports BSS.
The issues should be settled with the same spirit that had helped solve the long-awaited Land Boundary Agreement (LBA), he said.
The Indian Premier expressed the hope when he called on Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, President Abdul Hamid said connectivity between Bangladesh and India will help bring the people of the two countries closer, President's press secretary Ihsanul Karim told the news agency after the meeting.
Narendra Modi lauded the leadership of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and assured of continued Indian support for the development of Bangladesh.
The Bangladeshi President expressed gratitude to the government of India, all political parties and its people for their cooperation during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
Hamid informed Modi that he was in Meghalaya of India during the Liberation War and shared his experiences about the way he organised the freedom fighters during the War of Liberation.
Abdul Hamid said that if the border haat functions properly, it will help reduce smuggling.
Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, foreign secretary Shahidul Haque, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali, among others, were present from Bangladesh side and Indian foreign secretary S Jaishankar, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran, among others, were present from Indian side.
The Indian Premier also signed the visitor's book kept at the Bangabhaban.
Abdul Hamid also hosted a private lunch in honour of the Indian Premier.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Choudhury, Chief Justice SK Sinha, members of entourage of the Indian Prime Minister, among others, attended the lunch held at the State Dinning Hall of Bangabhaban.
