Modi pays tributes to Bangabandhu

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid respects to the Father of the Nation at the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and visited his house at Dhanmondi 32. This is the house where Bangladesh’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with his family members on the fateful night of Aug 15, 1975. His daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana were saved because they were abroad at that time. Hasina is now prime minister of Bangladesh and president of his party Awami League. Radwan Mujib Siddiq, son of Sheikh Rehana, received Modi at the museum when he arrived after 12:00pm. Modi first placed floral wreath at the Bangabandhu’s portrait, and then observed a minute of silence. Then he started visiting the Museum. After signing the visitor’s book in Dhanmodi Modi left for Pan Pacific Sonargoan hotel around 12:30pm. His 35-hour whirlwind visit Modi will be very busy attending various programmes, according to bdnews24.com.
